VICTORIA’S STORY
When she is 4 years old Victoria’s father comes home on Mother’s Day and tells her and her mother that he is gay and HIV positive. “And there's a certain amount of shock that people go into. It wasn't an immediate explosion. It was very quiet. And that doesn't mean that the earth doesn't shatter. It just means that the earth shatters slowly a little piece at a time.” Her dad kills himself 4 days before her 11th birthday. She spent more time with him as a young child than anyone else, but "it's like it all added up to nothing". At 34, her confusion about who he was compels her to revisit the past for answers.
